Material Memories

Material Memories is the first Dutch solo exhibition by Paris-born artist Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien, running from 3 October 2026 to 7 March 2027 at museum van Bommel van Dam. Through monumental installations made from textiles, copper, organic materials and crystals, Manlanbien connects different periods, cultures and traditions, making care visible, tangible and open to discussion. The exhibition presents six installations exploring the body, care and what we pass on to future generations, including new work created during a year-long artist residency at Villa Medici in Rome. Material Memories launches a new series of exhibitions at museum van Bommel van Dam dedicated to international rising talents on the verge of a breakthrough.
