King's Day 2026

King's Day 2026 — Koningsdag — takes place across Amsterdam on 27 April, celebrating the birthday of King Willem-Alexander. Up to one million visitors descend on the Dutch capital for what is simultaneously a neighbourhood street party, a citywide flea market (vrijmarkt), a canal boat parade, a food fair, and a series of concerts and ticketed music festivals. King's Night (Koningsnacht) kicks off the celebrations on the evening of 26 April in Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein, and the Jordaan. For 2026, Amsterdam introduced stricter crowd-management measures including new monitoring zones at Dam Square, Museumplein, and Rembrandtplein, enforcement of the 12+1 boat passenger rule, and extended closing times (until 22:00) for ticketed festivals at the city's outskirts.
