Joachim Trier (born 1 March 1974, Copenhagen) is a Danish-born Norwegian filmmaker raised in Oslo, known for psychologically rich, melancholic dramas exploring love, ambition, memory, and identity. He is best known for his informal Oslo trilogy — Reprise (2006), Oslo, August 31st (2011), and The Worst Person in the World (2021), the latter earning Academy Award nominations for Best International Feature Film and Best Original Screenplay. His most recent film, Sentimental Value (2025), won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
